Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate Founding Data Scientist to join our team. You will play a crucial role in helping Terminal and our customers draw insight from large volumes of high-frequency GPS and telematics data. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team and customers to develop and implement features and models that enhance our data offerings. Your contributions will be essential in positioning Terminal as the leader in telematics data aggregation and analysis while empowering our customers to launch products that change an industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct exploratory data analysis across telematics providers to identify opportunities to improve the quality, context, and value of the data we serve to customers.
• Research and validate methods to analyze telematics data for the most valuable insights, partnering with engineering to deploy to production.
• Partner with engineering to design and implement a comprehensive data quality monitoring system, including metrics, models, and dashboards for ongoing observability.
• Collaborate with customer data science teams, advising them on how to use Terminal data to support their underwriting and safety monitoring objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering to implement R&D tooling, ship data science solutions to production, and inform customer-facing analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data focused roles, including 4+ years as a full-time data scientist
• Proficiency with Python, SQL and other modern data tooling
• End-to-end experience with data, including pipeline development, modelling, querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
• Excellent communication skills when conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience working with TB-scale data sets
• Experience with telematics or other geo-temporal data is a plus
• Experience consulting or supporting customers is a plus

• Backend: AWS serverless architecture deployed with SST framework, featuring:
