At Chima, we build the most advanced AI human reasoning systems. We build this AI to help real people learn faster than machines. New features roll out every day, and we’d rather ship a small, working slice than polish a giant spec no one uses. If you like shipping great products faster than ever before and experiencing customers and users gain value from what you’re offering to them and the world - then you’re in the right place!
What you’ll do
- Make things users can touch. Craft clean, snappy UIs (Next.js/React) and the APIs that power them.
- Use the most advanced AI tool stack. Use every available AI engineering tool to 100x your shipping ability.
- Keep the pipes flowing. Spin up CI/CD, write migrations, and add the logs/alerts that let us sleep at night.
- Sprinkle in the smarts. When an LLM or vector search makes the product simpler, you’ll wire it in without fanfare.
- Talk to customers. Jump on a quick call, watch how they actually work, and turn their “I wish…” into “Oh wow, it’s live already.”
- Grow the team. Pair program, review code with kindness, and help us hire more smart+friendly experts.
Role & responsibilities
- Own features end-to-end: database schema, backend service, front-end component, deployment, and metrics.
- Design and maintain microservices (TypeScript/Node, Go, or Python) that stay healthy under real traffic.
- Build cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform/CDK, Kubernetes) that can survive an outage and keep the bill sane.
- Bake in security - RBAC, secret management, threat modeling - every time you merge.
- Stay curious; try new tools, share what works, and toss what doesn’t.
The tools we use today
TypeScript · Go · Python · Next.js · FastAPI · tRPC · AWS (EKS/Lambda) · Terraform · Pulumi · Docker · Postgres · DynamoDB · Redis · Kafka · OpenTelemetry · Grafana
You’ll thrive here if you
- Have 3-5+ years turning rough ideas into production code for lots of users (or serious throughput).
- Can sketch an architecture on a whiteboard and explain it to non-engineers.
- Treat test coverage, monitoring, and graceful failure as basic hygiene.
- Write clearly and enjoy asynchronous work - we span several time zones.
